Mass General Research Institute

Research at Massachusetts General Hospital began over 200 years ago. Massachusetts General Hospital is home to the largest hospital-based research enterprise in the U.S., with a budget of over $1 billion in 2021.

Research at Mass General integrates the full spectrum of "bench to bedside" discovery where laboratory scientists work alongside clinicians to improve care for patients, in the community and across the globe.

The Mass General Research Institute (MGHRI) promotes, supports and guides research at Massachusetts General Hospital. It comprises more than 9,500 researchers working across more than 30 institutes, centers and departments.
